A vast survey conducted by the EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights and published Friday contains troubling results almost exactly 75 years after Kristallnacht: Jews in Germany and seven other EU countries continue to live in fear of verbal or physical abuse — whether in public or, increasingly, online.

This is happening. This is real. This is getting worse.

Obvs this is a German newspaper so focus is on Germany, but I think it’s also extremely important to mention the other countries where this is an issue as well! Everyone thinks of Germany (for obvious reasons of course, I shouldn’t even have to say it) but the reality is that anti-semitic practices have been widespread across Europe for a long, long time. The article mentions the following countries: “Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Sweden and the UK” - You’ll notice a few who don’t necessarily immediately come to mind when thinking of European anti-semitism. The world needs to be aware that this is not an isolated problem (and not just in Europe, either, of course).
