I just aspirated.

Going to be lots of fun trying to call doctors offices looking for antibiotics on Christmas. I wish everything didn’t close down around one particular religion’s holidays. I’m hoping since it’s at the hospital, at least the pulmonology department will be open, I have a standing order there right now for antibiotics any time I call in after aspirating.

This time was bad enough though I don’t see much way around it. It still wasn’t bad enough to stop me being able to inhale past a certain point, but it was bad enough I was coughing up substantial amounts of bile and a tiny bit of blood from irritated airways.

At least this time I kind of have a reason for it – I was chewing food today and that increases bile production by a lot, then I was too tired to wake up quickly when it happened. In fact I didn’t wake up choking, I woke up and realized my breathing didn’t feel right and my breath tasted of bile then started coughing it up. So I must have been sleeping incredibly soundly. And it of course happened right at the yucky part of the night for bile production, which seems to be between three and five. I’ve been coughing up bile for two hours now and I think I’ve got most of it out. I’ll call a doctor as soon as I get someone here to make the phone call for me.

I just hope we can head off pneumonia this time. I’m fairly optimistic, but I’m not sure why I’m optimistic given what I just coughed out of my lungs.
