"You look like Howard Stern!"

My friend, when she saw my hair was long.

My hair looks nothing like Howard Stern’s other than length, but then I know she’s faceblind like me, so she probably makes extreme generalizations about hair in order to recognize people.  (Apparently she doesn’t recognize relative curliness though?  His hair is much curlier than mine is at this length.  My hair was much curlier when it was shorter… apparently it responds to gravity or something.)

ETA:  Apparently she hasn’t seen him in awhile either.  His hair is shorter now.

I guess I am not quite that faceblind (although I also do generalizations about hair to recognize people) because you are totally not Howard Stern-like. :)

I know, I was rather taken aback, and I’m pretty faceblind too (I wouldn’t recognize my own mother out of context).  I honestly think she only notices the outside shape of the hair, and maybe color.  Because she compared a different hair-state of mine to Frank Zappa, and when I went WTF, she said “well it’s triangular isn’t it?”  I think she’s just seeing the outline of the shape that somewhat bushy hair makes (as in, just the outer areas, not even the internal shapes like straight vs. curly) and not thinking anything of anything else about the person?
