45. Joanne Rowling was, in fact, a witch. Her first year of Hogwarts was in 1976, Lily and James’s sixth year. Jo was a Gryffindor and graduated with stellar marks. She went on to write books, a combination of Daily Prophet journalism and literature for both wizards and muggles alike. She had to go into hiding during the Second Wizarding War (as she was muggle-born), and while she was underground, she wrote in a diary about her experiences. When the war was over, she requested permission from the Wizengamot to write an autobiography of Harry from his point of view and market it in the muggle world. After many hearings, they granted her permission, Harry himself supporting it. In order to get the information she needed, she did a series of interviews and much work with the pensieve. Finally, she completed all seven books, and they became popular in both the muggle world and the wizard world. She was awarded an Order of Merlin, first class and is currently living at home with her family, having retired from the Ministry. She retains a close friendship with Harry and his family.
