Javert scares me in almost the same way that Umbridge scares me.

He’s too realistic in many ways.  And seeing him played by John Malkovich is even more realistic than usual.  They’re nowhere alike in personality, but there’s some common thread there that I can’t quite pinpoint.

Although, while Umbridge is Lawful Evil, I’d say Javert is Lawful Neutral, and just as scary in his own way.
