It’s not time to panic yet or anything but…
My cortisol levels turned out too low to measure, when I last got them tested. I already know everything that that can possibly mean, I don’t need instructions. Right now, we don’t even know if it’s a fluke or a real result. The next step is to do a sort of testing where they infuse the stuff into my veins that they use to make cortisol, or something like that, and then test my cortisol when that happens. Then we’ll see if there’s a problem, and if so, what the problem is.
This could be connected to those times I wake up and I’m so weak that my head flops over and I can’t move my arms enough to hit the button to call for help and I keep falling asleep or passing out until finally it passes, and it’s hard to wake me if you can wake me at all. (Yes I already know what that can mean, too. I’m sending this post out as information, not as a request for information.)
I almost hope this does turn out to be one of the problems, because it would mean there would be a fairly easy solution. Then again I don’t need more problems, so I almost hope it doesn’t. That’s the weird thing when you have chronic illnesses that aren’t fully diagnosed, when you get a weird blood test result it’s a cause for both relief and further worry.
My doctor said we shouldn’t worry yet anyway, because cortisol levels can vary, and we won’t know until later, whether this is an ongoing thing or not. If it is, we’ll involve an endocrinologist.
