attack-on-table:

So, basically having gastroparesis just means that my stomach muscles have trouble breaking down food and getting it through to my small intestines in a timely manner. Meaning random nausea, vomiting and malnutrition among other unpleasant symptoms due to having food sit in my stomach for longer than it should. In short, not a fun time for anyone that likes eating anything ever. In some cases, you end up on a liquid diet so that your stomach doesn’t have to worry about breaking any solid foods down. There’s no cure at the moment and the only FDA approved medication can possibly leave you with an “irreversable neurological side effect called tardive dyskinesia - a disorder that affects movement.”

Yep, not only can Reglan give you tardive dyskinesia (domperidone, its cousin, either doesn’t or is much less likely… but is not FDA approved despite being far better), but so can Phenergan and half the other nausea meds because most nausea meds are related to the neuroleptics, or are actually neuroleptics.  Also I get severe akathisia or dystonia or both on a full dose of Reglan so I can only take half… really wish I could take domperidone.
