Okay if your feet are asleep, don’t walk on them. No seriously. Don’t.

I always figured I could do it, because it’s never been much of a problem before.

But today I wasn’t thinking about it.  I got up off the toilet, which is too high for me so it always puts my feet to sleep to sit on it.  And my ankles are hyper mobile, so they’re always twisting to the side, I can do that thing where you make “praying hands” with your ankles while your knees are pointing straight upwards and stuff.

So that’s what my ankle did.  It went sideways like that under me.  And I put my whole weight on it.  And it hurt like an MF.

So I’m icing it, elevating it, and my staff person is running out to buy an ace bandage for some compression, it doesn’t seem like an emergency and I refuse to go back to the ER so soon, I’ll get it looked at in a couple days, sooner if there’s danger signs of any kind.

Luckily I already have crutches so I can completely keep my weight off it.  I’m not sure if it was sprain, break or dislocation.  But whatever it is, it hurts a lot.  But honestly I’ve had worse pain in my life than this.  It’s unpleasant but it’s not unlivable.

The pain is in this one spot midway between my ankle and my toes.  It hurts any time I flex it in either direction, and there’s constant pain the rest of the time too.  And it’s starting to mess with my body sense, like I almost felt the pain in my hand at one point.

But compared to the surgical pain I’ve had recently, and the pain of getting my feeding tube inserted, this is nothing.  Still pretty bad in its own right, but I’ve had worse.

Fey seems to know something’s wrong, from the moment I came back in from asking a neighbor what to do about it.

Anyway, I’ll keep people updated on this.  I’m just glad I already have a wheelchair and forearm crutches – while I'm capable of walking on it, I don’t think it’s advisable to do so yet.
