Somewhat off-topic.

I notice that frequently, descriptions of scientific controversies say things like “Professor A says that this thing is likely to be true, but Professor B says that other thing is likely to be true, and this is a controversy, and etc.”

Why do they never seem to say “Professor A says that this thing is likely to be true, but that other thing is also likely to be true, and we’re still trying to find out.”?
