I absolutely agree with you, but just in general (by which I mean not specific to your particular symptoms and situation), symptoms being psychosomatic don’t make them less real or less serious.  Psychosomatic symptoms need to be taken seriously and not seen as fake, caused by laziness, imagined or not real.

Oh yes absolutely.  But they’re also much rarer than people imagine, and usually things deemed psychosomatic, aren’t.  (And I do know what psychosomatic means, and I’ve experienced it mostly on a mild level as an anxiety reaction.  But I’m talking about the much more common situation, where people say something is psychosomatic in order to dismiss it.  Those people – including medical professionals – would not take true psychosomatic symptoms seriously, they’d try to throw you out the door and into a psych ward.  Their description of things as psychological is a means of dismissing it, and responding to it as such is realistic.)
