I just posted a video, but here are some still photos for people who can’t do video. Basically, I’d thought that I’d lost some flexibility with age because I couldn’t put my foot behind my head anymore, I could “only” step on the top of my head. But then it turned out that when I lost weight, I could put my foot behind my head again. Not that I should be doing it at all, but I just found it interesting that it’s possible again.
If you can do all of these things, you may have hypermobility syndrome (sometimes thought to be Ehlers Danlos type III, but that’s under debate), Ehlers Danlos syndrome, Stickler syndrome, or Marfan’s syndrome. Or some other connective tissue disorder. Look into it really thoroughly because these disorders can cause serious problems including heart problems, even if you think you’re healthy. And they can also cause all kinds of joint problems you should be familiar with, including very early-onset arthritis.
I just injured my knee recently due to trying to do jumping jacks… really bad move, now my knee hurts like hell. One time I sprained my finger by picking up a book, and it healed in this weird bent position. This isn’t a good thing.
Here’s a website that deals with hypermobility syndromes:
These pages may be especially useful in figuring out if you should talk to a doctor:
