Someone was talking about trying to find medical bracelets for adrenal insufficiency that were affordable.  This just came in the mail today, I got it for something like $21 on eBay.
You can actually get them for $5 or so if you just want a silicone band with the words “Adrenal Insufficiency” printed on it.  Do a search on Google Shopping or just about anywhere else.  I went for a slightly more expensive one (but by no means the most expensive I’ve seen), because the cheapest ones don’t look like medical bracelets to me.  And I want this to be clearly visible as a medical bracelet, because the point is for it to be found in an emergency when I’m incapacitated.  That way:
1.  If I’m in adrenal crisis, they’ll know it’s that and not something else, and initiate treatment immediately.
2.  If there’s another kind of medical crisis and I’m not able to communicate, they’ll understand that I have to be on steroids or I’ll go into adrenal crisis.
I have a lot more peace of mind now that I put this on.  Putting it on requires a small flathead screwdriver to pry a certain part open, and a scissors to cut the band to the right length.  Be careful you don’t cut too much off – when it’s open, it looks bigger than it is.  I erred on the side of leaving too much of the band on, so it’s a little big on me.  But that’s good, it gives it some slack.
Anyway I like this bracelet.  You can get them by searching for adrenal insufficiency on eBay.  I have a number of medical conditions that could go on a bracelet, but this is the main one that would be likely to result in my death if nobody knew about it.  So I feel a lot more peace of mind since putting it on.
