Conscious consumerism is an inherently classist idea.

Yep. It’s classist and also just plain naive- it is literally impossible to have “ethical” consumerism because the entire capitalist system is based on exploitation and oppression at every end. You cannot be moral and ethical within capital, it’s literally impossible, and the idea of ethical consumption / consumerism is based on an individualist liberal politic that totally ignores systemic oppression and whittles everything down to bullshit individual choices. 

It’s theoretically possible to minimize the amount of exploitation you take part in, and it’s a good goal, but there are very few feasible ways to do this if you don’t have access to lots of money / resources.
