Kemetic Round Table: Everyday Life

deshretandkemet:

As the Sun is rising earlier each day, and making the air hotter, I’ve had to take more care in watering the garden.  This is the driest part of the year, but with just a few cupfuls of water, the plants can stand up against the furnace of summer and, in time, bear fruit.  One of the major offerings that is welcomed by any god in Kemeticism is cool water. As the summer rolls on, I can understand that in my gut more and more. Being willing to offer water to eachother, to get eachother through the dry times, that can be an act of religion (and of Ma’at) just as much as anything set on an altar.

Likewise, to dance, sing, paint your face each of these can be a connection to Hetheru - a different form of prayer. The thread coming together on two knitting needles can help give understanding of how Isis knit Osiris’s wounds back together and (temporarily) created wholeness.  To feed a person is also to feed their Ka.

Even if all you can do is lay down and watch - you are watching *something* and that is a connection to the world.
Even rest has a place.

The River may be the great winding swath of the Nile. and it may be a million other mystical things I can’t even begin to describe.  But The River is also the river next door to you.  Or the stream.  Or whatever creates a little patch of green and black.   And The World that the gods work hard to keep running is the same world we live in.  And I’m pretty sure they appreciate any help you give them in making the world better.  Even if it seems small or everyday.
