➸ From Fuck Cancer's Founder, A New App For People Who Ask "How Can I Help?"
When someone gets sick, well-meaning friends and family often offer help that’s not really helpful. New coordinated care app StandWith helps…I love this!! Super relevant for spoonies, anyone on bed rest, anyone with chronic pain or a chronic illness, etc.
This looks really cool - looks like you give the app a list of tasks and you also create a group of people who can help you. From there it pretty much acts like a group to-do list, giving the main person the ability to assign tasks and the tasks being checked off the list once they’re compete.
I just signed up to be a beta tester for this. What a wonderful idea!
Looks useful for people with a lot of different illnesses and/or disabilities! Very cool!
I need to look into this.
I was just, semi-related, talking to someone about how I wish there was an organized network of disabled people and allies who could step in and help when someone needed it, sort of like what lichgem is going through with no local support… and my friend was saying a database of people and their abilities of things they’re capable of helping with, and locations would be a start. I don’t think this app does that, it was just a thought. I wish we all lived near enough to each other that I could just run over and clean the catbox and a few other things right now, because I’m so much better at doing those tasks for others than for myself, and as a one-off thing rather than regularly, that I think I could do it.
Anyway I need to look at that app, it looks cool.
