Seattle Trip to see an IC Specialist

sick-girl-problems:

As some of you know, last week I flew from my small town in Wyoming to Seattle, WA. All to see a doctor,  a Uro/Gyno who supposed to be the best in her field.

She was a total bitch..

She doubted everything I told her, and barely looked over my records. She was in a huge rush, it was easy to tell. Every time I answered one of her questions, she looked at me like, “That’s not possible” or “Are you sure?”

Yes, cuntface, I’ve been dealing with this for 6 years now.

She did a simple pelvic exam, and she was annoyed that I wouldn’t let her use a speculum because it hurt too bad.

She even doubted what my other doctors had written in the notes.
“Your bladder can’t spasm THAT hard that they push out a cath”
And yes 3, THREE different doctors have seen it happen.

Needless to say I’m crushed. I had such high hopes, and she was kind of my last hope. I’m so lost.. i’m not sure what to do.
And as if the whole doctor thing wasn’t bad enough, my best friend that went with me was a total bitch the entire time.

We did get to do the touristy things, and that was a lot of fun. I really do love that city. It was beautiful.

But now I”m back home, and I still have a lot of pain and nowhere to run to. I’ll write about it more tomorrow, I just wanted to give you guys a quick up date.

Thank you all for sticking with me! I love you all so much!!

Unfortunately, top specialists aren’t always what they’re cracked up to be.  Sometimes they get arrogant and don’t take as close a look at their patients as what they should, because they assume that they know so much that they don’t even have to take a complete history or anything.  They think they can just skim over your records and make a guess and that their off-the-cuff guesses are better than other doctors’ carefully reasoned opinions, therefore they don’t even have to try.  I’ve run into people like this and they’re best not worked with.  Even if they really are at the top of their fields, they make enormous mistakes through not taking the time and effort to talk to patients and really listen.  And that means it’s better sometimes to get someone with a little less prestige and expertise perhaps, but a little more humility.  Humility goes a long way in a doctor.
