Wanting to live is not about having an ego.
Fear of death can be about having an ego, but wanting to live even in the face of severe disability is not about having an ego.
FFS people.
(Of course most people think that wanting to live when severely disabled is about fearing death, because most people imagine that fear of death is the only possible thing that could cause a will to live in such circumstances. ARRRGH.)
