I have my appointment at one of the best hospitals in the country on thursday and i cant stop thinking about it bc what if they’re just as clueless as the last 3 doctors??? What if they don’t really know what’s happening??? What if they can’t help me??? I’m so nervous about this and i don’t know if i’ll have to stay overnight or not i just want all of this to go away

If it goes badly, then you’ll live through it.

Seriously.

Sometimes the “best” hospitals and the “best” doctors are simply the ones with the best reputations, for reasons that have something to do with something completely different than what it’s like to be a patient there.

Sometimes you’ll find a better hospital or a better doctor, who has no prestige at all.

So even if the “best” one sucks, don’t give up.  There are some of the “best” that are notorious for sucking to be a patient at.

I just dealt with a top specialist who really didn’t impress me.  And the world didn’t end.  We just decided which of his recommendations to follow, which ones not to follow, and that I wouldn’t be back to him.  I’d rather see someone with a little less prestige and a little more humility.
