Sociopath cannot be separated from aspd, in the publics mind they are the same thing.

I don’t believe that having an ASPD diagnosis means anything about you, I think it’s a medicalized way of calling someone a criminal (whether you are or not).  I do think that being a sociopath means something though.  The fact that the DSM has tried to tie the two concepts together, doesn’t mean they mean identical things.  Sociopath is a word for a social/moral concept, ASPD is a medical concept.
