Psychiatric disabilities don’t mean you don’t *also* have a developmental disability too.
Just because someone asked.
When I was first diagnosed with developmental disabilities I was also in the psychiatric system being diagnosed (and misdiagnosed) with a wide variety of psychiatric disabilities. In fact DD people have a higher rate than usual of psychiatric disabilities. So absolutely having a psychiatric disability doesn’t mean you shouldn’t post in the #actuallyDD tag. It’s just like anything else, one disability doesn’t cancel out another.
(And honestly I think they’re finding that some psychiatric disabilities have developmental components. So it’s not like the edges between the two aren’t really fuzzy.)
But anyway I feel weird at the idea that I’m the one who judges who should be there. If you have any kind of DD, or feel yourself to even probably have any kind of DD, you’re welcome, regardless of anything else. Just like any other tag of the sort, like the way #actuallyautistic is for autistic people regardless of any other diagnosis we might have, same with #actuallyADHD, etc.
