i didn’t even know it was possible for an app to cost $200+
like why would you make an assistive communication app and then make it that prohibitively expensive?
do they think every autistic has rich caregivers or do they just not give two fucks about the majority of us who don’t?
It is based on a program that is usually put on a single use device that usually is around $2k. The $2k version is usually bought via medicaid I believe. You’ll have to talk to the people who develop it about why they couldn’t bring the price down I guess. But I think they are a for-profit company- it wasn’t developed by non-profits or by the community.
Thankfully, there have been less expensive stuff that has been made by people who are not so distant. Unfortunately I’m not sure what they are- I just type it out if I can’t talk. I know I have reblogged them before though?
Seriously I have a device that cost $8000 (with insurance) and is not as powerful as that $200 app. So while it might look expensive for an app, it is not expensive at all for aug comm. And I assume they have their reasons.
