Lately, a lot of Christians have taken to saying “Jesus was a Jew!”
And sometimes what they mean by that is, “Christians should love Jews, and yet we’ve spent centuries persecuting them. That was wrong. Never forget that Jesus was a Jew, and that if you’re an anti-semite, you hate Jesus too.”
But sometimes what they mean by that is “Jews should love Jesus, because Jesus was a Jew too!”
And that’s not anywhere *close* to ok, and it’s not liberal, either. It is not ok to pressure Jews to consider Jesus important.
