➸ Does anyone know where to find this book?
It was written by a woman with a diagnosis of psychotic depression. I think it was written in, or set in, the fifties, sixties, or seventies. I found it in a library in 1995.
The book was divided into two sections: ”The Bad Hospital” and “The Good Hospital”.
I think the author got ECT at one…
There was a book in one of my classrooms in elementary school called “Lisa, Bright and Dark”. I never actually read it but the plot summary sounded like it could be similar to what you are describing?
It looks like it might be “The Prison of My Mind?”
It is, and I just ordered a copy.
There was a time I was checking out a lot of books with titles like that, because I couldn’t figure out why I felt so trapped in my head. That book didn’t speak to me much, but I’d like to reread it. (Nobody Nowhere was the main one that had any long-term impact from that time period. To a lesser extent The Eden Express, but mostly because of the drugs.)
What I can’t believe is that I’ve been looking for it so long, and then I put out the same query I’ve been putting out for years and someone just casually happens to know the exact book.
