Introduction

This is a submission-based blog about how autistic people think.

Have you ever heard that all autistic people think in pictures, because Temple Grandin thinks in pictures?  Have you ever heard that autistic people never think in words, even though you think in words?  Have you ever wanted to let other people know how you think, and to find out how other people think?  That’s what this blog is for.

It’s for anyone on any part of the autistic spectrum.  Professionally diagnosed is fine, self-diagnosed is fine too.  Any part of the autistic spectrum means it doesn’t matter if your particular official or unofficial label is autism, ASD, Asperger’s, PDDNOS, atypical autism, Rett’s, or childhood disintegrative disorder, LFA, HFA… any of that counts as autism for the purposes of this blog.

And any aspect of autistic people’s thinking is welcomed.  If your thinking is different in different situations, that’s fine.  If you don’t experience your thinking directly, but only experience its products, that’s fine.  If you want to talk about pictures in your head, that’s fine.  If you want to talk in detail about the mechanics of how you think, that’s fine.  All of these things are welcome here.

And it’s not just about how you think, it’s also about perception, because perception is such a big part of thinking for autistic people (and for nonautistic people).  So things about how you perceive the world are just as welcome.

You can also submit quotes from other autistic people about how they think, as long as you attribute the quote to the proper person so we know it’s not from you.

Our about page pretty much says what I’m saying here.  You can go to our Submit Page to submit things.  I’m hoping we’ll end up with a large collection of interesting stuff.
