The only thing that matters in your worth is that you exist.

Yes, I just wrote about how there’s a place exactly for each person, based on exactly the specific attributes of who they are. And that’s very much true.

But it’s also true that the specific attributes aren’t what make you whole. They’re not what make you a person. They’re not what make you a human being. They’re not what give you your worth.

If you exist, then you’re worthy of existing. Period. End of story. Anything anyone (including your own mind) tries to tell you otherwise, is a lie.

You don’t have to listen to lies, no matter where they come from. You can tell them to stop. And over time, sometimes, you can force them to listen to you. You can replace the lies with the truth, every time you hear them.

The truth is that you matter because you exist, you need no other credentials than that. There’s no exclusive club of people who matter. We all belong. Because we all matter.

This sounds fluffy to some people, but these are some of the most solid words you will ever hear, coming from some of the most solid places in the human heart. Human beings, as individuals and as a species, could never be at our best without everyone mattering. This stuff is deep inside us for a reason.

This. And I also really hate this capitalist, ableist, classist idea that you have to ‘contribute’ to society to matter.

Yes, and the problem with that is twofold:

1. We matter no matter what our ‘contributions’ are.

2. Everyone contributes to society, it’s just that capitalism only values certain kinds of contributions, and only in the context of making money in certain ways, at that.
