I don’t think Ravenclaw values are bad.  I just don’t think they’re right for me, at all.  The values of every house have the potential to be both really good, or really bad, usually both in combination depending on how they’re used.  I have friends in all houses and have no problem with any of them done right.  I’ve just seen the worst of Ravenclaw.  It doesn’t mean I have it in for Ravenclaw or that I think it’s worse than any of the other houses.  But I just don’t have the same values as a Ravenclaw and could never be happy there.  I don’t think Ravenclaws are evil or that their values are bad, though.  They’re just not for me, at all, in a huge, huge way.

Ravenclaw values aren’t my values.  I have friends whose values that fits with perfectly, and they would thrive in Ravenclaw, and I would never begrudge them that opportunity.  But I’ve been put into places where most people held those values, and it was an absolute nightmare for me.  Because that’s just not for me.  But I’ve never tried to give the impression that Ravenclaw is evil or worse than other Houses.  It’s just, emphatically, a horrible place for me to be stuck in.  And I never, ever again want to be put into a place that’s predominantly Ravenclaw.  I would probably feel the same about Gryffindor or Slytherin if I’d been forced into places like that at a young age and had bad experiences with not fitting in.

Also I do have some resentment at the idea that I should be a Ravenclaw just because I had certain talents as a kid.  Having the talents of a house is not the same as having the values of a house.  And I don’t value wit, reason, academics, and learning as the highest things in my life, or even close to that.  I don’t think they’re bad things, they’re just not my priorities, at all.  And I think our priorities determine our Houses more than our abilities.  So I’m touchy about people going “you’re nerdy, you must be a Ravenclaw!”

ETA: How do you get “you think Ravenclaw values are bad” from the statement “And going by innate traits alone I could’ve been Ravenclaw, it’s just that I don’t have the right values to value Ravenclaw values above Hufflepuff values.”?  All that says is that my priorities are different from a Ravenclaw.  By those standards, choosing any House is saying that all the other Houses are bad?
