Fey can be very polite.

She knows how to say “please”.  Generally it involves lots of rubbing people’s legs in figure-8 patterns while making pointed glances at whatever it is she’s asking for.

But she also knows how to say “thank you”.  When you turn the water on so that she can get a drink, she doesn’t go straight for the water.  She first goes for a sweet but sometimes a little businesslike rub of her face on your ankles, and only then will she drink the water.  It’s like she wants you to know your efforts are appreciated.

I think she might feel especially grateful after she’s been trying to get an idea across for ten minutes and we finally get it right.  I think humans seem especially dense to her, like “I’ve been shouting this at you for ten minutes and you only just get it!?" 

But whatever it is, for all that she has a bit of a reputation for gruffness, she says "please” and “thank you” an awful lot.
