I am not a house because Hogwarts is an abusive boarding school, not a refuge for my true self.
You probably know this already, but just for the benefit of other people –
I am a Hufflepuff, not because I want to go to Hogwarts or think that Hogwarts isn’t massively fucked up. But rather because I think Rowling was digging into something downright archetypal when she created the Houses, and they sometimes describe aspects of people really, really well. Learning about Hufflepuff actually made me face things about myself that I hadn’t wanted to face.
So I don’t want to go to Hogwarts, but I do enjoy talking about the Houses, and how they fit or don’t fit various people I know, and getting into various headcanon about the Houses and Hogwarts, but it doesn’t mean I lose sight of how fucked up Hogwarts was.
