Here's basically how I see Dave Hingsburger's work.

And I’m not trying to persuade anyone of anything (seriously), I just want to explain it in more detail than I did before. Because every time I recommend him to someone as an important thinker when it comes to disability rights, eventually someone will come back after reading his stuff and go…

It’s *because I agree with that* that I found a lot of what he said about behaviorism etc triggering.

I can’t dismiss it. It’s in my head and I have to engage with it because of who he is and what he stands for and what he’s trying to do by advocating that position.

And I’m posting abut freaking out because I’m trying to think about it. Not because I’m trying to make him go away.

Oh I totally understand.  I wasn’t trying to put you on the spot.  I was just writing that in the hopes that anyone else who went and read his work was prepared.  Especially people who have the tendency to go “My activism will be X or it will be bullshit” in the way you were just discussing.  Because they’d throw out his book the moment they saw something fucked up, and miss out on some amazing stuff.  And I’ve seen that happen before with other people who were very rigid about this stuff.
