What I think when I see twenty bazillion posts about the JRC on my dash.

Close the Judge Rotenberg Center. For the love of everything holy, close the Judge Rotenberg Center. Stomp it into the ground and dance on its fucking ashes.

But.

You won’t be done.

You’ll just have eliminated the most obvious of a huge number of places that torture and abuse their patients in…

Holy crap I had no idea I’d written that.  It’s worth reading the whole thing, even though it’s long.  I should think of putting this on my main blog.

You really should. Ironically perhaps I just reblogged a JRC survivor’s post as my next post after this?

But I am really dedicated to ending all abuse, both obvious and subtle, and raising awareness of the subtler forms of systemic violence against us, so maybe it’s not that odd that I would be posting both on the same day.

There’s nothing weird about reblogging both.  I reblogged the other one too.  My problem isn’t that people tell stories from the JRC, my problem is that people think that the JRC is unique, or uniquely bad, or the worst place ever, or going to inflict the worst damage on people, because that’s a horrible myth that will only keep other institutions open.  I’ve seen it before, many times.  When everyone knows “the bad institution”, they don’t give a shit about the other places that are equally bad or worse but don’t necessarily get the publicity.
