I’m kinda confused, am I supposed to hate John Green or not?

It doesn’t matter whether you’re supposed to hate him or not.  Like him if you like him, hate him if you hate him, and ignore what people say you’re “supposed to” do, because that shouldn’t determine your opinion.

I have no opinion on him as a person.  I liked “The Fault in our Stars” and I’m going to keep liking it no matter how many ways it can be ~critiqued~ on tumblr.  I want to see the movie because I liked the book, and I’m going to go see it no matter how many ~critiques~ I see.  Because whether I like something isn’t influenced by whether people tell me I should like it or not.  If I like something, I like it.  If I don’t like something, I don’t like it.  If it’s somewhere in between, it’s somewhere in between.  I can like things that aren’t perfect, too.  I can even like things that have serious problems with them.  And I’m kind of sick of the idea that we’re supposed to check with tumblr before we can like or dislike something.

(Note: Tags are carried over from the last person, I didn’t write most of them.)

So if you liked the book and the movie, go on liking them, no matter what anyone says.  It’s hard enough to find something you like, don’t let people take that away from you just because there may be problems with the book, or the movie, or the author.  There are always problems, with everything.  That doesn’t mean we can’t still like things.
