as small as a world and as large as alone

This is an idea that’s been coiling in my head for a bit but…

neuroatypical dragons.

Especially lady and non-binary dragons.  A lady dragon who copes by quietly and carefully counting her hoard, and she isn’t greedy, she just- just hates that niggling loose end and it upsets her so much, and people just are such fucking assholes about it. 

Or one who fills her lair with a haze of smoke because it makes the place more soothing to her senses. 

Or the one who has hollowed out an ice cave in a glacier, who squeezes xir bulk though and wiggles into the tiny, tiny hole when the world is too much. 

Or the one who has turned a cliffwall into a clawspeak message board that they and other dragons can communicate on, so they have buffers and can check in on each other without invading their space. 

One that hasn’t touched the solid ground for decades and needs to land on soft sands or water because it is just stimulating enough to their claws that they can deal with it.

And stimming for dragons, both happy and stressed.  A dragon doing spirals and spins, or strange exhalations or digging claws in, or getting help from other dragons to invest in glittering claw caps so they don’t bite, or rubbing foul things on their wings so they don’t chew on themselves, and it’s all so normal for them. 

I just am having feelings over dragons being like people I know and I.  Having those things being perfectly normal for them, and finding it very annoying that humans demonize them.
