Has anyone read “The Complete Guide to Asperger’s Syndrome” by Tony Attwood or “Thriving in Adulthood with Asperger’s Syndrome” by Craig Kendall?
My therapist recommended them to me, and I want to read more about it. I wanted to know if they were any good?
And of course, only respond if you’re on the spectrum. I don’t care if non-autistic people think they’re good. I really don’t.
I’ve read the first one. I don’t like Tony Attwood much. But I think it contains a lot of sheer information that can be useful for people. For instance, it said all these things that matched perfectly how I got misdiagnosed with schizophrenia in adolescence. Tony Attwood may be a jerk, and he may be wrong about a lot of things. But he’s seen a lot of patients. So he has a lot of information, just from the sheer number of people he’s known. And that information gets described in the book. Which has made owning it worth my while despite everything. YMMV.
