If you have a self injurious stim or have meltdowns in which you end up hurt remember to tend to your wounds afterwards.

Put ice and compression bandages on bruises, put antiseptic cream on any cuts and scrapes, make sure you can still bend your body parts without them hurting too badly.

Make sure to get medical attention as soon as possible if something doesn’t feel right.

It can be hard to seek medical attention when you know that you might be judged by doctors.  Some doctors take self-injury (and also suicide) personally – like it’s an offense against their profession.

I once hit myself in the head so hard that for months afterwards any time I walked it felt like the floor was buckling under me and I got nauseated constantly, it was really bad.  I knew I had a concussion but I never sought medical attention because I was too ashamed and scared.

I can’t tell anyone absolutely seek medical attention, but I can say that in a situation like the above, where it’s something serious like a concussion, it might be good to try, depending on your circumstances.
