It amazes me…

…the number of autistic people who still have it in them to read what Autism Speaks is doing, to read what other awful organizations are doing, to sit there and work out what to do about it, to read the news articles when parents have murdered their kids, to read these things, over and over, somehow.

I feel like a coward because I lost that ability somewhere along the line.  I can’t remember when I was last able to do that.  I know that sometimes I can read these things, but mostly I just have to avoid most of them because otherwise I become totally incapacitated by a huge range of emotions all at once.

  1. natalunasans said: somebody’s doing it, that’s what matters. you’ve already done your part for autistic history, and you still are teaching people on lots of other topics. i can’t even do the rhetoric activism stuff and never could. so i signal boost others.

  5. karalianne said: I feel the same way as you do. I can’t do it either, not for autism and now not for ADHD. I already avoided CHADD but now I’m starting to avoid other places that talk about cures and toxic garbage. The autism stuff is just overwhelming, I can’t deal.
