I need to bring gum with me places.

Then I won’t buy junk food in vending machines and eat it and hope it comes out in my drainage bag before it comes back up and aspirates or some shit.

It wasn’t that much, and I don’t anticipate problems, but I shouldn’t be doing this, and gum is the only thing that stops me.  This is actually the first time I’ve ever just done that, but it’s still a bad thing.   I shouldn’t be putting food in my stomach at all.

But like a friend told me, if you’re hungry enough, eating is not a voluntary act, it’s an involuntary act and your body will do incredibly stupid things, going against all medical needs, to do what it thinks will get you food as fast as possible.  Now I just have to hope I don’t puke. Hopefully the drainage bag will just suck it out of my stomach and that will be that.

But seriously if I chew gum this doesn’t happen, at all.  And I still think this is the dexamethasone increasing my appetite.  Both because dexamethasone does that, and because it’s counteracting my adrenal insufficiency, which actively suppresses appetite.  Add that to the fact I don’t have my feeding tube on so I’m not getting any food right now…

…that’s another mistake, I need to start wearing my feeding tube to PT even if it gets in the way.

Live and learn.
