i mean obviously you shouldn’t be made to feel like you have to cover them. But I always did too and if that’s what makes you feel safer then you shouldn’t be criticized for that.What I object to was that they were pressuring me to go out in public with uncovered scars- and ignoring the fact that it wasn’t safe. Like it’s not just a matter of how I feel about my scars. I don’t think they’re ugly or shameful. It’s that I don’t want to out myself as someone who used to cut/tried to kill herself to every stranger who happens to look at my skin. And people WILL say shit, and act nasty. And my family wanted to pretend this wasn’t a problem.
Not wanting to be bullied doesn’t mean I lack self-confidence.
Right.
