There’s a special place of hypocrisy reserved for people who will gleefully reblog posts about autistic/general DD/cognitive disability issues when it gives them a soapbox to scream and rage at people— because the only emotions they regard as important are anger and rage, and have developed Being Angry At My Oppressors 24/7 into a high art form— but then, if someone who is *actually* in one of those groups approaches them about something they said and admits that they don’t quite understand, that they read it as something that seemed very absolutist and they want to know if the person *really* means that or if it wasn’t intended to be taken literally and their disability is causing them to have trouble understanding it, they yell at and insult those people.

Or they yell at and insult people for not being able to get pronouns right, or not being able to change other things about their language. Or for not being able to read critical theory.

…the things people have said to me about what an uncaring asshole I am, because I can’t change my vocabulary.  The even worse things get, when I show them a list of words that hurt my brain, and they are words they love to use.  Even though I always say my list does not mean they should not use those words, it’s still very offensive to them that words like ‘heteronormative’ and 'intersectionality’ could cause me cognitive problems (often at that point they’ll assume I’m simply not affected by the right kind or number of oppressions, because if I was, surely I would understand these words with no problem.  (eyeroll)
