my meds give me increased focus when i take them. that doesn’t make me not disabled. my normal state is disabled, so anything i use to help me function better than my ‘normal’ state doesn’t make me able-bodied.

i need everyone to remember this because it’s really important. we already have people erasing people’s disabilities in media. bucky is disabled. i don’t follow captain america and i haven’t even watched the winter soldier yet, but he is disabled and giving him a super strong bionic arm doesn’t change that.

I know nothing about this fictional thing but people kind of act like the dexamethasone I take has cured my adrenal insufficiency.  When really all it does is make it so that I don’t die of adrenal insufficiency – but I’ll be taking it literally for the rest of my life, that’s hardly a cure.  And it has side-effects.  And the dosing is more an art than a science.  But people kind of act like the adrenal insufficiency isn’t there anymore, when it’s there and just as severe as it ever was, it’s just controlled because I’m replacing the hormones I’m missing.
