3. Because you share with young adults a verve and delight in reading that has not been eroded by time, or peer pressure.

4. Because you understand the value of story as well as the value of fine writing.

5. Because you believe that reading should be inclusive, spanning all age groups and cultures. 

6. Because you appreciate the enthusiasm, curiosity and passion of youth.

7. Because YA fiction experiences the world with maximum intensity.

8. Because young people own their passions, and do not rely on critics to tell them what they should enjoy.

9. Because all generations have something to learn from each other.

10. Because you remember what it was like to be wholly consumed by a book, and you want to feel that way as often, and as deeply, as possible.
