You know, when I think about how much my family criticized everything about me- my manners, my interests, how I talked, what I talked about, everything important to me, everything about my personality- it strikes me that they were treating me like who I was, was inherently customizable, and how can you possibly tell yourself you love someone if you feel that way about them?
