lichgem:

I used to search for jobs. I was filling out four applications a week for three years and only got two call-backs.

Also, I am disabled, and contrary to popular belief, SSI is really fucking hard to get on no matter how long and legitimate your medical history is. I’ve had Social Security’s own psychologist, that they assigned me, look at my history and wonder why I wasn’t on it already.

I guess I’m just supposed to stoically die before asking for help?

SSI is really, really fucking hard to get on, especially if you don’t have family or someone to back you up.

Like… I’ve been told that I’m the utter and total exception – I made it on my first try without any question of whether I was going to make it or not.  Everyone else says it’s normal to be rejected not only once but two or three or four times so that they can save money hoping you won’t come back at them with a lawyer, which generally you’re too poor to do.

I hate the system.  I wish I had advice but I don’t.
