WTF, creditors?

I’ve got a $300 hospital bill I have to pay off.  And I’ll pay it off. But I can’t pay it off all at once.  I don’t even have a total of $100 in the bank right now.  I was planning on paying it off in installments, like $50 a month maybe.  But because I didn't instantly send them money I don’t have, now I’m getting mail from creditors.  ARGH. Couldn’t they wait till I have money?

  1. caitatonic said: This happened to me too, when I was 19. I got so scared. My parents were supposed to pay the bills totalling more then $1000 but I was the one getting the calls from collections so I got scared, broke down and paid them myself. It took 2 years.

    I had an ER bill once, which it took me some time to pay because of a combination of not having the money, and them...
  3. irkdesu said: Sometimes the hospital will arrange a payment plan if you contact them, but a friend actually had to hire lawyers on retainer to shoo the collectors away. (Monthly fee, they took care of communication, which collectors make hard purposefully.) But that takes money, right?…
