What better way to kick off Pride Month than with George Takei being awesome.

For people who cannot see the pictures: Basically it’s a series of hand-written anti-gay signs alternated with reactions from actor George Takei (who played Lt. Sulu in the original Star Trek series, and is gay):

Anti-gay Sign #1: A young woman with black hair holds a sign saying, “I can’t be a princess without a king and a queen. 03.26.2013”

Takei’s sign: Takei holds up a sign saying, “Many queens I know agree with you.”

Sign #2: A young white woman holds a sign saying, “Cause it’s the right thing. I can’t imagine myself being with a woman, ewww!” (And this has a frowny face with x x for eyes.)

Takei’s response: “I can’t see myself being with one either”

Sign #3: A young white woman holds sign saying, “I believe in marraige between man and woman because, as God says, I believe. As a true follower, I believe of him. And I love him”

Takei’s response: he holds his sign with one hand, with his other hand he points upwards at sign #3 above him. The sign says “I support the proper spelling of marriage.” (Just in case you missed it, sign #3 had misspelled “marraige”!)

Sign #4: A young white man wearing a hoodie holds up a sign saying, “Because is against God’s Law is a deadly sin” The man’s hood seems to be cotton, his jacket seems to be leather.

Takei’s response: “So is wearing a cotton + leather hoodie, Leviticus 19:19”

Sign #5: A young white woman with a blue hair bow holds a sign saying (parts of this has handwriting hard to read, these parts will be in square brackets [] to indicate uncertainty) ”Because we as young people need parents for so many things. And men/woman make the people, they produce I guess I can say [IL?] like that and if you put all the guys on one island they wont last long cause you need 1 woman and 1 Man”

Takei’s response: “Please tell me where this island of men is. Thanks.”
