Holy crap this guy is obsessed.

The following is his list of crap that he thinks everyone should ask themselves about any autistic person who offers an opinion on anything.  Under a read more because it’s long and repetitive and seriously WTF-inducing.  Again, ASAN people should pay more attention to this guy than usual because he seems to really dislike you.

If the advocate is autistic, they should be diagnosed with only one of the following, but many may deliberately mislead by claiming to be diagnosed with more than one of the following: ◦ Autism (DSM-IV TR) ◦ Asperger Syndrome (DSM-IV TR) ◦ Childhood Disintegrative Disorder (DSM-IV TR) ◦ Rett Syndrome (DSM-IV TR) ◦ Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified (DSM-IV TR) ◦ Autism Spectrum Disorder (from the DSM-V) ◦ The ICD-10’ s equivalents for these diagnoses (It should be noted that in the DSM V Autism Spectrum Disorder is the only diagnosis an autistic person can have.) Further questions to ask yourself regarding the autistic advocate you are listening to: ◦ Is the “autistic” advocate high-functioning or low-functioning? ◦ Is the “autistic” advocate capable of functioning adequately in society, incapable of functioning adequately in society, or educably mentally handicapped? ◦ If the “autistic” advocate is low-functioning or educably mentally handicapped, does this person have a spokesperson, agent , or manager, and if so, who is it? ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate have comorbid diagnoses? ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate have allergies? ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate have sensitivities ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate have synesthesia? ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate” have perseverative interests?” ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate want to be treated or not? ◦ Does the “autistic” advocate want to be cured or not? Regarding the advocate (whether they are “autistic” or not): ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by vaccines? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by thimerosal? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by mercury poisoning? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by dental fillings? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by heavy metal poisoning? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by “Big Pharma ”“vaccinating” or injecting people with autism? (Please note that some people will use the term “vaccinate” and “inject” interchangeably in this context.) ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by government “vaccinating” or injecting people with autism? (Please note that some people will use the term “vaccinate” and “inject” interchangeably in this context.) ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by genetics? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is the result of recessive Neanderthal genes becoming active? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autistics manifest genes that will eventually become active for everyone when the next phase of human evolution is complete? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by women having babies after the age of 35? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by women having babies before the age of 35? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by mothers being overweight? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by mothers being too thin? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by women with a D bra size of larger? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by mothers avoiding breastfeeding? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by breastfeeding? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by refrigerator mother parenting? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by men who are over 40 fathering children? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by smart people procreating? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by unintelligent people procreating? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autistics are alien-human hybrids? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autistics are “rainbow children,” “crystal children,” Or “indigo children”? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by high fevers in children? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by gluten? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by celiac disease? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by Low Levels Of Vitamin B-12 And Vitamin C? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by fluoride? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by genetically modified organisms? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by electronic and battery operated devices like cell phones, televisions and other electronic gadgets? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by electromagnetic radiation in the atmosphere? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is caused by demonic possession? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a diagnosis? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a mental disorder? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a disorder? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a disease? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a health-related problem? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autism is a difference? ◦ Does the advocate believe that autistics are a minority group? ◦ Does the advocate believe autistics are a separate race? Regarding the following therapies: ◦ Is the advocate for or against ABA therapy? ◦ Is the advocate for or against antiviral drugs? ◦ Is the advocate for or against auditory integration training? ◦ Is the advocate for or against chelation therapy? ◦ Is the advocate for or against coffee enemas? ◦ Is the advocate for or against electroshock therapy? ◦ Is the advocate for or against exorcism? ◦ Is the advocate for or against facilitated communication? ◦ Is the advocate for or against “floortime”? ◦ Is the advocate for or against gluten -free therapies? ◦ Is the advocate for or against homeopathy? ◦ Is the advocate for or against hyperbaric oxygen therapy? ◦ Is the advocate for or against intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)? ◦ Is the advocate for or against stem cell treatments? Regarding the following issues (which will be discussed in more depth later): ◦ Is the advocate for or against intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG)? ◦ Is the advocate for or against restraints? ◦ Is the advocate for or against institutionalization? ◦ Is the advocate for or against an autism registry? ◦ Is the advocate for or against the sterilization of autistics? ◦ Is the advocate for or against an in utero genetic test for autism? ◦ Is the advocate for or against weeding autistics out of the human genome through selective abortion? ◦ Is the advocate for or against abortion? ◦ Is the advocate for or against selective abortion? ◦ Is the advocate for or against the neurodiversity movement? ◦ Is the advocate for or against pushing the United Nations to grant autistics minority status? ◦ Is the advocate for or against the consolidation of the five DSM IV-TR autistic spectrum disorders into one designation in the DSM V? ◦ Is the advocate for or against autistics’ participation in studies? ◦ Is the advocate for or against wars and drafts? Another important question (which will be discussed later): ◦ Does the advocate like neurotypicals, hate neurotypicals, or hate neurotypicals but support the neurodiversity movement? Some very important questions (which will be discussed later): ◦ Is the advocate morally conservative or liberal? ◦ What is the advocate’s religion? ◦ What is the advocate’s religious denomination? ◦ What are the advocate’s political leanings? ◦ What is the authors opinion on Cassandra Affective Deprivation Disorder? ◦ What autistic movements has the advocate supported or not supported? ◦ What petitions has the advocate signed, not signed, or refused to sign? ◦ What autistic alliances are the advocate affiliated with? ◦ What autistic organizations does the advocate belong to? ◦ If the advocate belongs to an autistic organization, what is their position within that organization? ◦ What government organizations is the advocate affiliated with? ◦ Who are the advocate’s friends in the online and offline autism world? ◦ Has the advocate been arrested for illegal activity that could be linked to their autistic political views? These questions are a fraction of what you should ask yourself before you trust an advocate. If the advocate’s opinions on something do not correlate to what you know, what you’ve read, or what you’ve have heard, they may be ignorant, pushing an agenda, or both, and they may be dangerous for that reason.

[from “Autism’s Politics and Political Factions” by Thomas Taylor.  A book that… really is not worth the $2.99.  Like it doesn’t say anything I didn’t already know, and it says a lot of things that like… aren’t things that anyone should “know” because they’re not true or they’re from such a skewed viewpoint that you can’t even really say anything about them.]
