madeofpatterns:

There is a special place in hell for autism parents who talk about their children in the first person.

I remember one particularly awful one where the parent felt the need to get snarky.

It said something like “See these bruises?  They’re because I like to hit myself.  I like to hit myself a whole lot.”

I wanted to hit the father who had made the page.  He had deliberately taken pictures of his son at his absolute worst, during and after meltdowns, stripped of his clothes to show the bruises on his body from presumed self-injury, and the boy looked miserable in ways that made my heart break.

And his father wrote the entire thing in the first person.

I’ve also encountered entire books written in the first person.

This is one of my Berzerk Buttons.  "Use your words!“ is another.
