chavisory replied to your post “Where does one get involved in the autistic community and meet other people similar to themselves like you mentioned chat rooms? It’s been very recently that I’ve found out that I have Aspergers and I’m frankly very overwhelmed with information and desire to meet people who are like and understand me.”
Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism, and a lot of the bloggers who comment there, have been good for me. TPGA itself is for parents and professionals as well, but lots of the autistic commenters have blogs that a smallish community has centered around
Yeah it’s partly the smallish community and the hearing the same names coming up over and over and over and over again (even away from there) that’s made me nervous. And the never knowing where I’m going to be welcome, post-massive-bullying/stalking-campaign-of-a-few-years-ago. I don’t want to walk into a place where I have to prove I’m real.
