Seriously can we just stop with the things that go:

  • “Sie didn’t say _______, but it really seemed like she meant it.”
  • “I really got this feeling off that post like it meant ______.”
  • “Hir post doesn’t actually come out and say it, but it’s clear that the only thing it could possibly mean is that, in the background, sie thinks ________.”

And any variation on them?

Because what happens when you say that about someone?  Is that then, somehow, everyone starts thinking they actually said those things.  And then before they know it, they have all these people confronting them for saying things they never said.  All because of some vague idea you got in your head that if they said one thing, they must’ve meant something else.

I mean I do understand that implied meanings exist, and that sometimes we have to act on that.  And that you can’t stop thinking this way entirely or you couldn’t protect yourself in some ways.  But at the same time, I’ve gotten more shit over things I didn’t say than things I did say, and that’s not remotely fair.
