why

don’t do this

there are people who just call themselves gay/lesbian/bi/pan and happen to also be asexual or gray-a and may not use the label for whatever reason including ‘they havent heard of it’

it really disturbs me when ppl assume that not-explicitly-asexual identities must be centered around sex

that’s a stereotype we’ve been fighting about lgbt people for quite awhile now 

FFS I’ve been talking about this for years, before I even knew there was an ~ace community~.  Namely, that sometimes I feel asexual, or something close (no desire for sex, no concept of sex, sex does not enter the picture, period), and the rest of the time I feel like a lesbian.  I’m sure there’s some fancy terminology for it now that I’m unaware of – I’ve always leaned closer to romantic than sexual, etc. etc.  But whatever it is, it does exist, and I’ve been talking about it since before AVEN and etc. even existed.   I honestly don’t feel the need to put a label on all of it anyway, which is why I’ve never gotten involved in all this.  For me the lesbian part (or… lesbian itself is just an approximate label for something far more complicated too) has been by far the more important of the parts in terms of the effect on my life.
