I went to pride yesterday and through all the fuck shit of gay/queer assimilation and fake ass “allies” it still occurred to me how beautiful it must be to be in a space and celebrating who you are and being accepted. And then I remembered I’m black. And I’m a woman. And I remembered that even our festivals are invaded (a la white dancing lady) and that our humanity is almost NEVER celebrated or uplifted, even in our own community and I just started crying because FUCK how beautiful and freeing would it be to walk down a street, even for a SECOND, and have your humanity, your life, cheered on, validated, appreciated. And then I thought about black trans women and I cried even harder.
Being a black woman is one of the most difficult paths to walk in this earth.
